Summer Lovin' Read-a -Thon Day 7

"We Go Together"

Todays Participation topic is…
Graduation Day!

List your accomplishments, big and small.
Did you make some new friends?

Well I didn't accomplish my goals. I forgot how busy my life can get leading up to the 4th. I did make time each day to read. I don't think I would have if I wasn't participating in this read-a-thon. I finished 3 books. 1 on the 1st day and 2 on the 6th. I also read 294 pages of book 4. I finished reading The Sound of Rain by Anita Stansfield, Alien Taste by Wen Spencer, and Legend by Marie Lu. I almost finished Prodigy by Marie Lu.
The Sound of Rain (Jason Wolfe, #1)  Alien Taste (Ukiah Oregon, #1)  Legend (Legend, #1)

Prodigy (Legend, #2)I don't know that I made new friends but, I did see some blogs I would like to take a closer look at, once I'm not so busy. I enjoyed the read-a-thon and I hope you all did to.

Summer Lovin' Read-a-Thon Day 5

"Whole Lotta Shakin goin on"

Today’s Participation discussion is…  How many books have you read so far? Have you gotten off track? What are your plans for the rest of the read-a-thon?

These are my goals from my first post

My Summer Lovin' Goals

  1.  Finish 1 book a day
  2. Participate in as much as I can
  3. Find new blogs to follow

I am completely off track. I didn't realize how busy my week would be when I signed up. I finished 1 book on the first day and I'm almost done with my second. I would have to read 5 more to catch up on my first goal. I am participating as much as possible and I am enjoying the other blogs. I think I have spent most my free time looking at blogs then reading. I plan on trying to finish two more books before the end. I hope everyone else is getting more reading done.

Summer Lovin' Read-a-Thon Day 4

"Tears On My Pillow"

Today’s Participation discussion, share a book that really pulled on your heart strings.

Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1)Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes is the best book I read this year so far. I loved all the main characters and I am anxious for the next book but, it made me cry. It wasn't just one or two silent tears. It was a lot of tears and I had to stop reading to grab tissues.

What I've Read So Far

    https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1175661105l/544236.jpg
  • Day 1- I read 298 pages and finished The Sound of Rain by Anita Stansfield. I Started Alien Taste by Wen Spencer
  • Day 2-I read 50 pages of Alien Taste by Wen Spencer.
  • Day 3- I am still reading Alien Taste by Wen Spencer. I am on page 160. The book has gotten really good. I just didn't realize how much time would be taken up by the 4th and work. I don't know if I will have much time to read today.
How is your reading going? Are you accomplishing your goals? I'm not. I hope you all are enjoying yourselves.

Summer Lovin' Read-a-Thon Day 3

"Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee"

Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1)Today for the Read-a-Thon we are asked about our favorite female Character. Karrin Murphy is one of my favorites. She is the lead detective in the Special Investigations unit for the Chicago PD. She is barely 5 foot, blond, and looks like a cheerleader. She resents the cheerleader description and the others in the book don't want to be caught thinking it, let alone saying it. She is intelligent, strong, caring, and capable to handle anything that comes her way. If you want to know more about Karrin you can check her out in the Dresden Files Series written by Jim Butcher.

Challenge 3: Page 99 Test

  • If you have never done this before, the object of the game is to pick a book you have not yet read, turn to page 99 and read that page.
  • Then you give a synopsis of that page and tell us if, based only on that page, would you want to read this book?
  • Please remember to give a synopsis ONLY, no spoilers and no plagiarism.
I had my son grab a book off my dresser. He picked up Prodigy by Marie Lu. This is a book I have been wanting to read for a very long time. I was a little hesitant on opening up and reading page 99.

Prodigy (Legend, #2)On this page a female is being questioned in a room. The man doing the questioning, a Commander, is getting angry at the lack of cooperation. The page ends with him sending all other personnel out of the room.

I really want to know what is going on now. I just want to refresh my memory and read the first book in the series first.

What I've Read So Far
  • Day 1- I read 298 pages and finished The Sound of Rain by Anita Stansfield. I Started Alien Taste by Wen Spencer
  • Day 2-I read 50 pages of Alien Taste by Wen Spencer.

Summer Lovin' Read-a-thon Day 2

"You're The One That I Want"

Today for the read-a-thon we are asked to share our must have summer reads. My summer reads consist of books I plan on reading for a challenge I am apart of (The Seasonal reading Challenge) on GoodReads.com. We read books that fulfill certain tasks. I try to choose books that are already in my tbr list but, occasionally have to read something I normally wouldn't pick up. Here are a few I  picked up from the library.
Kabul Beauty School: An American Woman Goes Behind the Veil  Radiant Shadows (Wicked Lovely, #4)  Darkest Mercy (Wicked Lovely, #5)
 What I read yesterday

http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1217914519l/3989461.jpgI read The Sound of Rain by Anita Stansfield. The book was 288 pages and I started Alien Taste by Wen Spencer. I read about 10 pages. So a total of 298 pages. I did pretty good considering I worked yesterday morning.

Challenge 2: Cover Re-Do

Alien Taste (Ukiah Oregon, #1)
Original
My Cover
I really hated the original cover. It reminded me of something from the eighties, even though it was written in 2001. Here's the cover I came up with using Microsoft PowerPoint.

I just got home from work and I hope to be able to start reading soon. I don't know that I will get much read though. I hope you all are enjoying your books.
