Winning at Reading
I'm signing up for a month long reading challenge. This challenge is for the month of February. I just happened to find it yesterday while browsing some book blogs. I'm excited about this one. All month the goal for the challenge is to read books given as presents or won.
As I've mentioned before I have a lot of books given as gifts and I am working on getting them read. My kids are a little upset I haven't read them all yet. Seeing as they have given me quite a few in the last few years. If you would like to sign up you have until February 15.

March Take Control of Your TBR Pile
I can't wait for this event. I have a huge TBR pile and I plan on dedicating this whole month to taking a chunk out of it. Actually this whole year I am making an extra effort to read my TBR books especially those books that I received as gifts. My family don't understand why I don't always read them right away. If you would like to join in this event click here or to the left on the picture.
My goals
- Finish 3 books on my TBR pile/week
- 1000 pages a week
- 12 books or 4000 pages

Seasons of Reading...Winter 's Respite
I joined another Read-a-Thon. I know big surprise. I only blog anymore when I'm getting ready or doing one.
I found this RAT on Novel Challenge. It is a wonderful website dedicated to nothing but Challenges and Read-a-Thons. I have a feeling this year is going to be one Read-a-thon after another.
This one is pretty simple, read what you can from January 26 until February 1st. If you would like to join in click the picture above.
My Goals
I have been reading a lot lately and I have some pretty big goals for this Read-a-Thon. I want to read one book each day for a total of seven.
Day 1-I've been a little busy and didn't accomplish as much as I wanted.
Day 4
I had high hopes for this Read-a-Thon. I started out super excited and ready to accomplish a lot. My goal was 7 books. I was sure I would meet it. The books I chose were easy reads and I only worked two days this week.
However, life got in the way. I had basketball games to attend. Homework and housework to help with and do. I took my daughters to hair appointments and shopping. I also threw a birthday party.
The last day however was the worst. I forgot to bring a book to the football party we were attending. I accidentally grabbed one I had finished and I ended up watching the football game. I did enjoy it. After the game all the kids went outside to play. My daughter bumped heads with her cousin and broke her nose. I spent the rest of my read-a-thon in the emergency room with out a book.
Total Pages Read-919
Books Finished-2
I didn't reach my goal but, I think I did alright with everything going on. How did you do? I hope you had fun and I will see you at the next Read-a-Thon.

Just saw a post about this Read-a-Thon. I really want to participate. It started today and goes through the 11th. I'm hurrying and writing this post. I hope I don't make to many mistakes.
For this Read-a-Thon you must read holiday themed books or books with a winter setting. Other then that I don't know much else. If you would like to participate or learn more click on the picture.
My Goals
Enjoy your books and have fun.

Dewey End of Event Meme
My Favorite reading challenge has come to an end. I'm exhausted and ready to go to bed. I may check out more blogs after I have rested a bit.
End of Event Meme:
- Which hour was most daunting for you?19 and 20
- Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? I can't think of any now.
- Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? None
- What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? The way cheerleading is organized is awesome. Makes it easy to cheer.
- How many books did you read? Finished 1 and started another
- What were the names of the books you read? Abrham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and Have a Little Faith
- Which book did you enjoy most? If I wasn't so tired when I started Have a Little Faith. I would choose that one but, I didn't get very far. Otherwise I didn't have a real great book this time
- Which did you enjoy least? My back is killing me from sitting at the computer to long
- If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders? All I know is I am exhausted after cheering.
- How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? I will participate again. I don't know that I will cheer again. I spent so much time at my computer my back hurts. It made me appreciate them so much more. Maybe I'll cheer 1 read-a-thon a year. Next time I think I will take the role of reader and only hop on the computer every once in a while.
- Read 500 hundred pages. I read a total of 405 pages. I was close
- Visit all the blogs I'm assigned to at least once. I would like to do it twice but, I my team was assigned 75 blogs. I want to get some reading done to. I visited all 75. A couple of them twice.
- Read 12 out of the 24 hours. I have no idea how many hours I read.

Dewey Time
I haven't published anything on here since the last Dewey 24hr Read-a-thon. I have been working a lot lately, running kids to practices and games, and other day to day stuff. I haven't even read a new book in over a month.
Anyway it's that time of year and my favorite challenge is coming up and I am getting ready to sign up.
For those who don't know.
What is Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon? For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs, Twitters, Tumblrs, Goodreads and MORE about our reading, eating, and visit other readers’ homes online. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. This wonderful Read-a-thon happens twice a year, in April and in October.
The fun starts again on October 18, 2014.
If you would like to participate or find out more. Click on Dewey.

My last post for Dewey's 24 Read-a-thon
My favorite reading challenge has come to and end. I have really enjoyed the reading and the challenges. I didn't visit very many sights but, I plan on it once I get some sleep.
My goals and how I did
- Stay up 24 hours. I did it. I wasn't sure I would when I woke up at 5am so tired
- Finish 3 books. I finished 2 and listed to another
- Visit 50 blogs: I think I got to 30. I hope to visit more in a few days
- Try to read 30 minutes out of every hour. I think I did. I just don't pay any attention time after hour 10
End of Event Meme:
- Which hour was most daunting for you? 21 I didn't know if would be able to last the full 24 hours
- Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? I did a few YA book this Challenge. I like that there fast to read and I can move on to my next selection.
- Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? I think a Calender would be good.
- What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? I can't think of anything right now.
- How many books did you read? I finished reading 2 and about 4 hours on a audio book
- What were the names of the books you read? Being Nikki and Runaway by Meg Cabot. I am listening to Toys by James Patterson
- Which book did you enjoy most? Runaway
- Which did you enjoy least? I would have to say Toys because, I'm not going to be able to finish it
- If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
- How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time? I will be participating in the next one. It's also a strong possibility I will be signing up to be a Cheerleader.
